Prerequisite: Corrective Beauty or relevant training or experience.
Makeup application for a live audience is quite different than for a camera. Contrast is exaggerated in order to make features and facial expressions visible for audience members that are sitting far from the stage. Students learn application for different sized theatres as well as products that hold up through sweat and hot lights. Mood and character makeups are learned, as well as old age makeup for the stage. Color theory is reviewed and makeup colors are created and applied from primes. Wig knowledge is necessary for theatre makeup artists. Applying, securing, and caring for different types of wigs are also covered.
This class is part of our Certificate Programs and is also available to be taken individually.
