Since MAC Cosmetics is the go to makeup and sponsor for Cirque du Soleil productions, makeup designer Eleni Uranis thought that they might also want to get involved in the upcoming workshop at The Art of Makeup School on Oct 13-14, 2018. Well, she was right! Just to make it an extra special partnership for this very special event, the Executive Director of Global Artist Relations reached out to Eleni to find out what her top five favorite MAC makeup products were that she regularly trains her performers to use on Cirque du Soleil productions, so they could supply those products in gift bags to all of the attendees at our workshop!

Well, guess what came in the mail today? The gift bags! Five full sized MAC makeup products are in each bag as promised. There is full coverage foundation, a pencil and gel liner, eyeshadow, and a paint stick. Each bag includes $100 worth of products as a free gift from MAC! I was already excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity to learn the secrets behind Cirque du Soleil makeup, but I can’t believe it got even better!

The Art of Makeup is proud to be accepted on the MAC School eligibility list. Not all schools are eligible to be a part of this special program, in fact we are the only dedicated makeup school (not Cosmetology) in the Pacific Northwest on that list, so we are happy to be able to offer memberships in the MAC Student Pro Membership Program. Our students can receive discounts on products and invitations to private MAC events and workshops.

MAC has had a controversial past over animal testing, so I pulled this from their website to ease your mind and mine. We are a school that is against animal testing.

    WORKING TOWARD A CRUELTY-FREE WORLD

M·A·C does not test on animals. We do not own any animal testing facilities and we never ask others to test on animals for us. While some governments conduct animal testing to prove safety before they will allow us to sell our products, M·A·C has never tested on animals and we continue to be a leader in the movement to end animal testing globally. To this end, we are proud to partner with IIVS (INSTITUTE FOR IN VITRO SCIENCES) to expand the use and acceptance of non-animal testing methods worldwide.

    Which countries require animal testing?
China tests on animals as part of its safety assessment of cosmetic products. We love our fans and we never want to exclude them anywhere.

In other words, if you buy makeup in China, no matter what the brand is, the country requires animal testing on it. I won’t plan on buying makeup in China. If I buy MAC here, I know it has not been tested on animals. That is a relief. I’m excited to partner with MAC Cosmetics for this workshop, continue to support them through the student pro card, and hey, maybe it’s time we get some more MAC makeup in our classrooms!
