Camp Overview

The Art of Makeup Summer Makeup Camps are the perfect and low-priced introductory in-person workshops for those who want to explore creativity in makeup artistry. These programs are ideal for anyone searching for a makeup summer camp nearby that combines guided instruction with creative exploration in a professional studio setting.

All Camps are 4 Days, Mon-Thurs, 10:00AM-2:00 PM

  • Each day includes a lecture, demonstration, and hands on application.
  • A Certificate of Training and photos of your work will be provided.
  • The majority of campers are ages 11-17, but we take adults too!
  • Space is limited – Early registration is recommended
  • Parental consent and waivers required for under 18

Summer Makeup Camp Kits

A variety of makeup supplies will be provided for in class use with a small kit to take home. A short optional list of supplies are suggested to be supplemented by students. Students are also welcome to bring additional items to use during class. Please inquire to see full list of supplies provided and supplies that need to be brought by students.

Camp Locations

All workshops and camps are held in Portland and Lake Oswego, making this a convenient makeup summer camp nearby option for local and regional students. Each year, we also welcome students from across the country!

This year our Summer Makeup Camp & Movie & FX Makeup Camp will be held in a new location! We are excited to hold space at the historic and gorgeous Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church built in 1892.
Location: 5441 SE Belmont St. Portland, OR 97215. This is a thriving neighborhood full of shops, restaurants, and hiking at nearby Mt. Tabor Park.

Our 2nd Summer Makeup Camp will be held at Lakewood Center for the Arts in downtown Lake Oswego across from the Willamette River and park, also near restaurants and shops. Location: 368 S. State St. Lake Oswego, OR 97034.

Summer Makeup Camp

July 6-9 in downtown Lake Oswego (SE Portland location sold out)

Our original and most popular makeup camp. Each camp is 4 days covering a multitude of topics. Held in SE Portland, OR & Lake Oswego, OR.

Topics covered include:

  • Day 1 Corrective Beauty: Starting from the basics! Color theory, skin tone matching, highlighting and contouring, corrective techniques, and a classic beauty look.
  • Day 2 Fashion Makeup: Editorial fashion look, bold winged or geometric liner, strip lashes, bold lips, and smokey eyes
  • Day 3 Special FX Makeup: Create bruises, cuts, wounds, and burns using a variety of makeup mediums. We’ll create some gory fx illusions using our movie makeup magic skills.
  • Day 4 Film & TV Makeup: Using makeup for character development, film makeup tips & tricks, Students will create a story using makeup to bring it to life!

Movie & FX Makeup Camp

located in SE Portland

Looking for makeup workshops nearby that teach special effects? This camp focuses on special effects and film character-driven makeup. Learn the secrets behind realistic makeup FX tricks used in your favorite movies and TV shows, then write your own story and watch it come to life. We’ll be making a film short on the final day, written, directed, and makeup applied by you and your team! Held in SE Portland, OR

Topics covered include:

  • Day 1 Bruises, cuts, gashes & scratches
  • Day 2 Bullet holes, burns, & broken bones
  • Day 3 Sickness, dirt, blood, tears & other character tricks. Intro to prosthetic application.
  • Day 4 Make a movie! Students will write a short story, requiring some cool makeup fx

Summer Makeup Camp Terms & Conditions:  

Any payment made is refundable up to 2 weeks prior to start date with written notice of cancellation.  Space in each class is limited – first come, first serve.  Space is confirmed when tuition is paid in full. Students under 18: Parents or legal guardian must sign our participation waiver form before the first day of class (to be provided). 

The Art of Makeup’s Summer Makeup Camp and Celena Rubin Featured on KPTV Fox 12 Oregon

During our first week of Summer Makeup Camp, we welcomed More Good Day Oregon host Jenica Villamor from Fox News to film a segment on us for her show! It was fun and so exciting to have her there filming the class while instructors Kameron Gates and Sarah Prevo teamed up for their zombie demo. She then went around the class interviewing students.
